Countdown to the Mid-Winter Shows

OK, so it's not actually the "dead" of Winter this year. Winter, in fact, feels a whole lot more ALIVE than it can be at this point in the season. More usually, when the calendar turns to mid-January, we're in and out of drippy chill, bouts of seasonal affective disorder (the SAD blues,) and generally un-RIDE-able days (for those of us fairweather riders, that is!). Not so this year. The past weekend's Springlike 70's and sunlit hours had most of us out on the roads, two wheels happy to be rolling rather than shackled to seasonal lock-down.

But even here in The Carolinas where our riding season is long and strong, January isn't often the most hospitable for our riding spirits and the Winter Shows feed our ravenous hunger for biker treats! Usually, the announcement of the Easyriders Shows brings us out of hibernation and out to greet folks who we haven't had fun with since we Winterized our rides. From my recollections, there's always a regular flow of riders parked in downtown Charlotte eager to get their show on. Some years, there's been white snow dusting black leathers. Some years, ugly rain and more 4-wheeled transports than 2. So this year we get it all: agreeable riding days (long-range forecast looks sunny and chilly) ... AND the Easyriders Show!

So who's riding to the show next Saturday?

Clearly, I won't be as I'll be part of the crew with The Carolina Rider's BIG RIDE Bus but I'm hoping and guessing and crossing my fingers that this year can be a big year for the show ... and for you to get to actually ride your ride instead of climbing back into your cage. We'll be giving away nights in the mountains for you to use when the weather's right, we'll have some of our truly cool NEW SHIRTS for sale, some eye-candy Carolina Beauty around, and truly good vibes happenin' around The BIG RIDE (it's my birthday that day!) .... so DO come see us!

Horse Bucks Prizes Available NOW

Horsefeathers Roadhouse in Sherrills Ford, NC has been a TCR Sponsor for several months but we have a treat to offer you from our partnership with this cool ride destination. For the first 20 readers who write me and tell me their ride plans for 2013, I have $5 Horse Bucks to send you! When you write, remember to include your mailing address (so I can mail your Horse Bucks!) and tell me what kind of riding you want to do this year - where, with whom, how long - in as much detail as you can provide and with photos if you want as well! Whoever puts the most effort into their answer will get $25 in Horse Bucks to use at Horsefeathers Roadhouse for food and drink. All winning emails will be published in the January 22nd edition of The Carolina Rider Scene so yours must be to me NO LATER THAN 1/20/13.

FREE Motorcycle Event Planning Seminar For YOU!

I'm getting good registrations for this seminar but still taking more so PLEASE REGISTER NOW ....

We at The Carolina Rider have a good bit of experience with making powerful events happen from the ground up. Additionally we are most appreciative of the efforts of countless rider groups and individuals in our Carolina communities raising money and awareness of not-for-profit charitable and educational causes. In that light, we are making it one of our goals this year to help you produce valuable events for all involved. On Saturday, March 2nd we are offering a 2 hour workshop of practical how-to's and tried 'n true guidance to help as you try to help the world around you. Will it be worth it? Well the seminar if FREE and there will be a FREE LUNCH and HANDOUTS for you to turn to later plus beneficial discussions and connections made. The Carolina Rider foundational staff has 30+ years of marketing and fundraising expertise and involvement in the motorcycle world, truckloads of creativity and tons of useful advice that we know can improve what you're currently offering or planning to make happen. Is 2 hours enough? Perhaps not but it's a starting point and we don't want to overload brains or schedules either. You'll be armed with tools and ways to get your future questions answered too.

Who should attend? Individuals and groups actively planning or dreaming of creating a not-for-profit charitable or educational motorcycle-related event this year. That includes rides, rallies, shows, and other such events. But, hey, in the spirit of creative thought, remember there are probably lots of other kinds of charitable/educational events that haven't been ventured into yet so don't limit your visions.

Check out the flyer below and REGISTER NOW because we need to know how many to plan for. Also, feel free to email me if you have any questions. We're most grateful to Cox's Harley-Davidson in Rock Hill, SC who are providing space for the seminar.

Thanks so much for keeping in touch with The Carolina Rider Scene!

Hope your week is good to you.....

I'm on Facebook ... "friend me!"

Oh Horsefeathers, Wilber ...

It might "date" me but I remember the old black and white Mr. Ed Show. And so, every time I hear the name of our fine Sponsor, Horsefeathers Roadhouse, that's what comes to mind. ("Oh horse-fea-thers, Wil-ber!") Well, that AND the good food and drink I have enjoyed there! Well, that AND the place just feels good - one of those easygoing spots you can ride to and kick back with friends or on your own because they make you feel like they know you (even if they don't!)

If you live in their area or think you'll ride that way (and I encourage you to make that ride!,) please do check out the offer FancyFree has for you for some Horse Bucks coupons you can use at Horsefeathers. They're located in Sherril's Ford, NC and I recommend that general area of NC for good riding too. Horsefeathers has lots of indoor and outdoor areas for groups to gather too so think about them when you're making plans with your riding buddies and clubs. Send FancyFree your list of rides you want to take in 2013 and she'll send you some Horse Bucks to purchase your food and drink. Go check 'em out and tell 'em The Carolina Rider sent ya!

New Shirts!

We have a new design for The Carolina Rider t-shirts and are excited to have them debut at this year's Easyriders Show in Charlotte. Come get yours! We'll have sizes L, XL, and XXL and we're pretty sure you're gonna want one!
