Wake up! Time to Ride ...!

I am not a fan of being pulled from my warm bed when in the midst of a good sleep! Over the years, I have had various truly irritatiing sleep distractions including a huge fire horn aimed at the wall of my college apartment that when set to blaring after midnight frazzled my nerves for a couple hours after it was silenced. In more recent years (since college is a long-gone memory!,) we've had racoon attacks to our chicken coop in the wee hours and screams from my feathered friends that sent me and my shotgun-wielding hubby running and making a return to sleep fairly impossible.

And so I've been thinking about that poor groundhog who's snuggled deep into some late-hibernation Z's when February 2nd comes along and some formally-clad gent grabs him from his burrow. That's gotta be rough. Still, whenever I see those furry creatures on the February news, they don't seem nearly as grumpy as I would be!

A few days ago, the annual groundhog grabbing clan declared the following ... (with a bit of biker-friendly addition by me!) ....

Our weather forecast does indeed show Spring-like temps a-comin'. 60's and rain to prepare the ground for growing. Yep, sounds like Spring but we're in The Carolinas and it ain't over till the fat icestorm sings, huh?!

Here are some things that have come across my desk in the past couple weeks ...

Shaggy Seeks Bike Shop or Bar to hold Bike Show

Shaggy's looking for a bar or bike shop in Upstate SC to hold a Japanese Bike Show. In his column last week, he asked folks to let him know if they'd like to be involved in such a venture. He's been getting some feedback and wants to investigate who and what's out there. Give him a jingle if you want to get involved at any level! shaggy@thecarolinarider.com

I'm on Facebook ... "friend me!"

In some ways life is just another roll of the dice, nothing promised, just chance to take. You never know how those dice will fall, sometimes you are a winner and sometimes you lose. That is life! Ron Snipes, the owner of the '03 Deuce you see here, came up all sevens and elevens with this bike!

Ron is the Owner of Snipes machine shop, (803-475-9616,) and this bike was a shop project. The Deuce never really caught fire for Harley. Some liked it, some hated it, some hated the rear fender, and on it goes. I always thought with a little customizing they could be transformed into a cool bitchin' ride like you see here.

The engine is a 131' twin cam, so we are talking some serious black top scorching ability here. It will blast you down the black ribbon! One thing I really like about this bike is the D&D Borzilla exhaust, very clean and very mean looking.

This Deuce is a looker as well as a goer! The Rev-Tech Dominator wheels are bad ass! That flame and dice paint job is from Harley-Davidson, #131 of 200 sets made. These flame and dice sets were one of my favorite paint schemes form HD! Flames and dice are just a biker thing...

This ride is a real looker and stands out in a parking lot full of bikes. I like bikes that are customized in this fashion - you can still ride them and they still say Harley loud and clear!

Ron takes a lot of pride in his Deuce; as he should, it is as clean as a whistle and sharp as a knife!

I came across Ron's bike at a local bike night. I go to bike nights 'cause just like those dice you never know what's waiting and like life that is what makes it fun! Go on now roll them bones! ...
