From a whisper to a shout

Animals know the seasons, the day of the year, and the time of day naturally without the aid of a calendar, a secretary, or an iPhone. Trees feel their sap rising and limbs budding. Tulip bulbs have the urge to push upward and outward. Motorcycle riders know what time of year it is by that Spring Fever tug inside us that begins as a quietly whispering nudge and intensifies into a loud roaring holler ordering us to get out and feel the breeze.

Here at The Carolina Rider, I can feel the seasonal shift as my Inbox fills up with event flyers (see Readerville below!,) our EVENT CALENDAR begins to swell, and our own To-Do lists run over into more than one legal pad! Sure, our unusually warm WinterSpring (as it might be called,) didn't let our inner fuels freeze up this year and we've probably all felt ourselves at a patient idle all season. Nevertheless, I hear the call , don't you?!

SAVE THE DATE: Ray of Hope, April 29, 2012

Jay "Hollywood" Greenfield sent me the words below written by Jamie Huffman, mutual friend of Ray Miesbauer who passed on this past month. I got to know Ray myself as a performer for Lake Wylie Music Fest in 2010 and happy to have known him even if briefly. The photo below taken at Lake Wylie Music Fest is Ray doing what he loved to do - sing and play and be with good people! I joined that with Jamie's words as a "save the date" flyer for the benefit that the Independent Benefit Ride group is making happen in April. More info and their official flyer to come I'm sure and I know it's to include good music and good times!

Meet Dale Folwell who says He Can Fix NC

Last week both Footloose and I mentioned that we have some new Sponsors (the name we give to our advertisers.) One of those is a guy who is running for Lt. Governor or North Carolina, Dale Folwell. It might seem odd to have a "politician" for an advertiser in a motorcycle publication but there are a couple strong reasons it really isn't all that odd... 1) Dale sought us out to help him in his campaign just as any business might contract with us to help promote their cause and 2) Dale is a motorcycle rider himself who has a strong passion for taking care of riders! And when I say strong passion, brothers and sisters, I mean that he's doing what he's doing FOR US, because of us, and, hopefully on his part, with us!

I had the chance just now to have a quick phone chat with Dale and I've posted a little intro to him on our home page. Please take a moment to meet Mr. Folwell today then look for more info about him and some articles to come by him. I look forward to getting to know Dale as well.

This Week....

This week is a return from Daytona Beach where the days were filled with sunshine and the nights were cool and wonderful. Getting back to work is not fun.... but here we go...!

This weekend THE BIG RIDE will be at the Charlotte CBA Swap Meet at the Metrolina Fairgrounds. As always we will be there giving away trips and money...!! Stop in and say hello as there might be a little "Jack" for anyone who asks!!

Two week later, be sure at put The Thin Blue Line Ride on your calendar. Today is the deadline for pre-regristation where you can save a little cash for signing up early. We'll be there as we have been for several years in support of this important cause.

Stop in and say hello at both upcoming events....
