CALL TO ACTION:
Attention Riding Groups/Organizations!
Today I send a shout out to all of you who are part of riding groups, organizations, and clubs. It's time for you to show your stuff in THE CLUB ROOM which will be found under GROUP PAGES at TheCarolinaRider.com! We want to help you get the word out about who and what you are and all that you're doing in our Carolina communities.
Some of you are charitable organizations. Some social riding groups. Some of you band together for a cause. Some of you ride together for fun. Some groups are focused on specific towns, some on specific types of motorcycles. Some are loosely laid-back and some are very defined and formal. It's all cool........
The Carolina Rider CLUB ROOM
The Club Room offers space for motorcycle-related community groups to:

We are here for you. Help us help you.
Here's an example of an organization who will soon be part of our Club Room. The Guardians of the Children are a diverse group of folks who ride together for a cause - they have a purpose and focus to raise money and awareness PLUS they take on direct hands-on work for their cause. Motorcycles and a desire to help abused kids bind them together. The following article comes from their Gastonia Chapter but this organization has many geographical areas of focus and a large membership. Just one example of who you might eventually find in The Carolina Rider Club Room.
The Guardians of the Children
Here's a report from Ally Street, aka RebelYell of the Gastonia Chapter of Guardians of the Children. Thanks so much for sending this in, Ally, and much gratitude for the Guardians and all you guys are doing for our world!
In recognition of April being National Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness, 110 riders turned out in support of the first annual CAPA Poker Run sponsored by the Gastonia Chapter of Guardians of the Children on Saturday, April 2, 2011. The 76 mile ride started at American Big Twin Cycles on Franklin Boulevard and carried riders to Bojangles in Lake Wylie, SC, a co-sponsor who contributed 10% of their sales between the hours of 11:30 am and 2:30pm to the Guardians. From there riders then went to the Bear's Den in Kings Mountain, then rode to Crystal's in Cherryville and ended the ride at the Homestead where a DJ was on board for entertainment at the closing ceremonies, PhatPhil's Smokehouse barbeque and numerous prizes were given away to participants. The event was a success and the proceeds were donated to Hope Circle, Gaston County's Children's Advocacy Center. Guardians of the Children is a 501(3) c non-profit organization comprised of motorcyclist who are dedicated to the prevention and awareness of child abuse. This Month's Questions for The Litigator:
Q - My doctor says I am disabled, so why is the Social Security Administration denying my Social Security Disability claim?
A - The Social Security Administration's (SSA) position is that it is up to the SSA, not your doctor, to determine whether or not you are disabled.
Q. Well, what is the definition of disability used by Social Security?
A. Disability defined by the SSA means "inability to engage in any substantial gainful activity by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment, which can be expected to result in death or has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than twelve months."
The Big Ride
The Carolina Rider, with its 20,000 biker-e-mail list and over 1 million hits a month, is making the "other" publication around these parts sit up and pay attention!
First, they started running ads in their publication telling other businesses that we were donkeys to their race horse. Then they started running ads telling the businesses that their 30 days of ads was much better than our 30 seconds of ads ... and now they want to copy us so bad they are using our name (or a form of it) to promote their magazine. I understand that imitation is the highest form of flattery.
So join with me and just smile the next time you see them trying to put down The Carolina Rider because we know if they weren't worried they would not be using valuable ad space to put us down!!
I'm proud of what we are doing here....as are our Sponsors and readers.
