Free Ride

Sometimes we just need a destination to ride to, an excuse to ride, or simply a cool reason to get on our bikes instead of taking the car. Here are some things to ride to that aren't on our usual ride calendar...things that don't have a direct connection to motorcycles but can be a fun ride anyway. This is our publication's occasional feature, "Free Ride" which gives a listing of some free and low cost fun times ... a few things that might cool down your bank account during the hot weeks ahead....

Some Carolina Community Events with Cool Names

June 2-4 Tuna Round-up in Manteo, NC

June 4 - The Sweetgrass Festival in Mount Pleasant, SC

June 9-11 Party in the Pines in Whitmire, SC

June 9-12 Texas Pete Twin City Ribfest in Winston Salem, NC

June 10 & 24 Salisbury Ghost Walk Investigation in Salisbury, NC

June 11-12 Rail Days in Spencer, NC

June 15-18 The Mighty Moo Festival in Cowpens, SC - gotta love the name of this one!

June 15-18 Charleston Carifest in Charleston, SC

Do Not Dispute the Doughnut vs. Donut Debate!

June 3 is National Doughnut Day

Everyone has their faves..... there will always be a debate over the best.

Some like 'em powdered, some like 'em filled, some like 'em fried glossy slick, and some like 'em cakey sweet.

One spells it with "ough" and the other with just an "o"

One heralds their coffee and the other just shouts Hot Now!

I prefer KK over DD. In fact, I'll go as far as to say I don't have anything to do with the second style. In my book the only doughnuts are Krispy Kreme doughnuts. But, I acknowledge those of you who lean to the other side too........!

Here are links to both in celebration of the big day:

I'm getting a number of requests for GROUP SUBMISSION FORMS! So, of course, I am re-running this again as promised since it's an effort to help you all. Thanks to everyone who sent in requests.

Yes, we have had a delay in getting forms out to you but they WILL get to you ... I promise! Everyone who has written in is on a list to receive as soon as that delay is cleared from "the road!"

Attention Riding Groups/Organizations!

Today I send a shout out to all of you who are part of riding groups, organizations, and clubs. It's time for you to show your stuff in THE CLUB ROOM which will be found under GROUP PAGES at TheCarolinaRider.com! We want to help you get the word out about who and what you are and all that you're doing in our Carolina communities.

Some of you are charitable organizations. Some social riding groups. Some of you band together for a cause. Some of you ride together for fun. Some groups are focused on specific towns, some on specific types of motorcycles. Some are loosely laid-back and some are very defined and formal. It's all cool........

The Carolina Rider CLUB ROOM

The Club Room offers space for motorcycle-related community groups to:

  1. List General information about their organization
  2. Provide membership and contact information for riders to explore involvement
  3. Share periodic reports, articles, stories, photos, and announcements for The Carolina Rider community to enjoy and connect

If you would like your organization represented in The Carolina Rider CLUB ROOM, email me for a GROUP SUBMISSION FORM today!

We are here for you. Help us help you.

I sincerely hope you enjoyed a relaxed holiday weekend as I know I did. There was a balance of work and play - the work in the yard kind of work ... and the play by doing as much of nothing as I could muster. It was great!

Have a good short week ahead.

Maybe I'll see you at the Hog Happenin'? Look for The Big Ride, our promotional bus, and come say howdy!

What's Happenin'?!

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend. Ours was great. Got caught up on my very long to-do-list and managed to get a little rest in there as well.

Last week I had the pleasure of having a photo shoot with Jade who you see at the top of this mini-mag. Be sure and check out her gallery. I'm sorry to say our shoot was cut short due to a rain storm but we will reschedule another shoot asap.

This week it's off to the races again. Many meetings & bike events to plan, fix and help.  There are October motorcycle events that need planning and I'm working on 'em; but the most pressing is what's happenin' this weekend: the HOG Happenin' in Lincolnton, NC. The Carolina Rider bus "The Big Ride" will be in downtown Lincolnton along with 10,000 of my closest biker friends (well maybe not friends but I'm going to do my best to meet as many as I can!) We will be giving away overnight stays in the Blue Ridge mountains at The Skyline Village Inn as well as t-shirts from The Carolina Rider and our newest Sponsor Wheels Through Time in Maggie Valley.

Speaking of give-aways, if you can tell me WHAT YEAR THE MUSEUM OPENED IN MAGGIE VALLEY, I'll send you a pair of 2 tickets to the Wheels Though Time Museum.

See ya in Lincolnton. Please do be sure to stop in and say hello to FancyFree and myself...

As always,

Ride Safe and Keep The Shiney Side Up,
Jon
