A Magazine - ONLINE!

Not everyone gets it. We throw out the words ... "We're an online motorcycle publication" ... and still there's a delay in understanding. Our minds think "magazine = paper," they're something you can touch and hold, flip pages and dog-ear what ya wanna read again, and then throw the thing into your recycling box when you're finally done with it later.

Yet, here we are......a PAPERLESS magazine! And this thing you're reading right now isn't the actual full mag. This thing you're browsing is the weekly e-Mag that leads you back to the resource-filled site .. the website that holds articles from today and years back, motorcycle reviews and info, the go-to event calendar for The Carolinas, and photos of people and events and bikes. beauties, and bike scenes. The Carolina Rider dot com is a bit like a scrapbook, a library, a collection, an ever-expanding resource from today and yesterday, for tomorrow and the days to come.

And this weekly, The Carolina Rider Scene, is your reminder that we're here for you when you need us...and a way for us to lead you back to The Carolina Rider where you can read even more, submit your events, share your photos, see what's up in SC and NC too.

Thanks for reading either or both, a little bit or a lot! Thanks for turning to The Carolina Rider and for getting actively involved yourself in our future...... We're still welcoming writings and photographs by YOU. We always want to keep you at the forefront of what we're all about and we hope you'll help us help you tell your stories.....

Today online is a story and photos from a recent event at The Chop Shop in Charlotte. Stealth tells the story, Vicki shot the photos and they're set up in their own GALLERY.. one of Vicki's great shots is up at the top of this e-Mag. Do check out the story and the photos. And hey, to show you how great it is to have an online magazine with deep archives from days gone before, you'll see that Stealth references a former article from back in August 2011 about the Queen City Aces cafe racer club.....!

... an eclectic little section dedicated to eclectic items sent in by our eclectic readers!

Next Monday in Easley, SC:

Jeani of Biker for Bikers Foundation talks about the flyer below: "The reason we are doing this is to make up funds so badly needed to help injured bikers. At present we are gearing up to go to Texas & help a guy who went down in Houston, needs surgery on his wrist & has no medical insurance. Obviously, he can't work without the use of his hand & if it's not life threatening...they send you home! The extra funds from the bike raffle will help to eleviate some of the needs for funds to help people in this type of situation. We are only selling 5000 tickets and a person need not be present, has 90 days to claim the bike, and the ticket will be pulled at the 2013 rally when the builder cranks it up. It is being built presently, will be disassembled in sections & reassembled at the rally. Also, tickets can be purchased at our website (, through Charter Members, State Capts, & at events we attend. It is a beautiful bike like the one in the pic but will have our logo, & the option of mini apes in case a short person wins."

I know you're out there riding. The weather has been too good to not be on the road and I'm betting there are some fun times being had. Write something about your ride! Tell our readers about your favorite Carolina ride......where, when, with whom, on what bike????

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Who wants THE BIG RIDE parked at Your Event?

Event Organizers, we'd like to bring The Carolina Rider's BIG RIDE bus to your next motorcycle event! Beginning today, I am taking letters from you telling me why we should choose your event. The bus will show up (at a winning event within 100 miles of Charlotte that doesn't otherwise conflict with another event we are already committed to) and we'll bring some give-aways and maybe even something extra special for the event organizers..... I'll announce that in an upcoming column. Until then, get your requests in!

Event Organizers will get special passes for access to the a/c cooled party bus during the event. That in itself is an awesome prize when you consider the challenge of keeping your cool while standing around on a hot blacktop parking lot for hours!

Speaking of a hot event......who's coming to Rockingham for the Smokeout?
