A Crazy Calendar Mix-up, Customs Come a'Calling, The Dog in the News, and it's so Nice to Meet you Too!

This internet stuff can get complicated and confusing and sometimes catastrophic! This past week we learned that if you had recently tried to connect with our Calendar from the links we provided in this e-news, you were sent to an old, outdated, totally unusable calendar that we had put out to pasture. Uggh. Our sincere apologies for this crazy calendar mix up....and thanks so much to those of you who called it to our attention.

It was kind of like sending a signal out to a retired satellite...satellite's still orbiting but nobody's connected to its signal to send or to receive. Kind of like picking up a kid's can phone and trying to reach someone on the other end but the neighbor kid who had the other can has moved away. Kinda like continuing to send letters to a house that's burned down.

So all's well now. Try it. Go to CALENDAR and submit your event. Go to CALENDAR and see what's up this weekend. From Roanoke Rapids, NC to Laurens, SC; from The Outer Banks Bike Show to The East Coast Trike In and all points in between; there are bike events going on around The Carolinas and our Calendar is up-to-date and growing - despite our recent shame-faced mess.

Stealth tells me he's already got a list of pride rides from you custom bikers out there! You guys have been emailing him already asking for his attention to the bikes you want included in his Corner. And Stealth is stealthily stealthing through parking lots these days and you too might find his card tucked in your saddle one day....if you've got the look!

And as far as custom cycles, go, my good friend Steve Lorusso and his crew at Mad Dog Custom Cycles have got it goin' on! We just pulled an old article about Mad Dog out of our archives and given it new life on our homepage. And while you've got your reading glasses on, stroll over to The Lake Wylie Pilot who just shared Steve's bike crash and recovery story. We're all thankful he's up and rolling again.

We all said it Saturday....that there are so many good people who ride motorcycles! As we folded give-away bandanas, Michele and Erin and I glowed with compliments for the throngs of nice folks thru our booth at Bud and H-D of Charlotte's Red White and Brew. Thanks so much for your handshakes and kind words, your stories and ride reflections, you resource and ride suggestions. And please don't stop there.....send me your stories and photos! Show me where you've been this Summer.....

"Go on now, squeeze out every drop of sweetness on your ride today!"

Quick little Links, Stats, 'n News to chew on....

Old news can still be good news to share.......

This was released by News 14 Carolina back in June...

WILMINGTON - A Camp Lejeune Marine and another person were seriously injured in a crash early Friday morning on Meadowview Road after riding a motorcycle naked. Troopers say Gunnery Sgt. Steven Sheals and Jennifer Smith were riding nude on the bike when it went off the road. Sheals was airlifted to the hospital with back and neck injuries. Smith suffered a broken leg and fractured arm. Sheals was charged with DWI and reckless driving. Both were charged with not wearing a helmet.

And it brings to mind a little Ray Stevens!

Hello everybody, this is your action news reporter
With all the news that is news across the nation
On the scene at the super market
There seems to have been some disturbance here
Pardon me sir, did you see what happened?
Yeh, I did...I was standing over there by the tomatoes
And here he come
Running thru the pole beans, thru the fruits and vegetables
Naked as a jay-bird
And I hollered over at Ethel...Isaid don't look Ethel
It was too late, she'd already been incensed...

Here he comes, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
There he goes, boogie-dy, boogie-dy
And he ain't wearin' no clothes

Oh yes, they call him the streak
Fastest thing on two feet
He's just as proud as he can be
Of his anatomy
He's gonna give us a peek
Oh yes, they call him the streak
He likes to show off his physique
If there's an audience to be found
He'll be streakin' around
Invitin' public critique...

We have just wrapped up this year's Red White and Brew event at Harley-Davidson of Charlotte. The Carolina Rider was privileged to be a sponsor this year. How cool it is to be giving away a motorcycle. It was a great event. My guess at how many people was at the event is around 3,000 people. That is an incredible number considering what was going on in a 30 mile radius of H-D of Charlotte. Carolina Harley was having their big BBQ event they have every year and this one was the last one they will ever have. Plus the Food Lion Auto Fair was at the speedway.

Red White and Brew was a really good event and so well put together. Sandy Pullin, a manager at H-D of Charlotte, was the person responsible for all of the pre-planning and she should get a big thank you from all parties involved in the event. We thank you, Sandy!

Yes, we were privileged to be a part of this this event!!

Until next week keep the shiney side up!!
