"Change ain't lookin' for a friend

Change calls the tune that ya dance to ...."

(Line from Al Sweringen of the HBO show Deadwood)

I might've used this line in another column long ago. Nevertheless, still one of my favorite quotes that cuts to life's reality. CHANGE is just somebody you gotta get used to in life and expect to jump when he says jump!

New/Old Publication Date for

The Carolina Rider Scene

This week we're shifting our publication date from Mondays to Tuesdays. For those of you who were on board with us in our initial weeks 3 years ago, that was the day of the week this e-Magazine used to fly into Inboxes. Then somewhere along the way we moved it back to Mondays. Well, Brother Change is at it again and nudging us to get back to our first vision....and the dance swirls on....

Welcome to The Bike Exchange!

Today we welcome The Bike Exchange to our team of Sponsors who support the work of The Carolina Rider. Located in Gastonia, NC, these guys customize bikes from one end of the motorcycle-lovin' world to the next. In fact, their latest bike owners are from Texas as Big Mike tells you in his new monthly column, Big Mike Buildz Bikes, below. Check out what he's got to share as well as the Bike Exchange flyer up toward the top of today's e-Mag to see some of their beautiful work! We welcome Big Mike's column and The Bike Exchange and look forward to seeing more photos and stories along the way!

Newbie Article

My friend Caroline came out to the recent Budweiser/H-D of Charlotte Annual Red, White, and Brew and offered seated massage work next to The BIG RIDE for all subscribers. I hope you didn't miss a chance to have her hands laid on you because you missed a treat by a truly gifted massage therapist. And that's not her only gift - she's a pretty great writer too so we asked if she'd give a little account of her experience at the event and she did. So her article is online now and it's a fun fresh perspective from someone who had never been to a motorcycle event! Thanks, Newbie!

Mmmm,... the Autumn Air is giving us a little preview of things to come this week! Grab a jacket and head out on the road breathing deep that new coolness and enjoy your ride!

"Go on now, squeeze out every drop of sweetness on your ride today!"
Fancy Free, Site Editor

I'm on Facebook ... "friend me!"

First, I have to say "WOW!" This was an awesome experience. I would also like to say "THANK YOU" to Blue Ridge Harley Davidson as well as "THANK YOU" to the Carolina Rider for making this possible.

It was truly an "AMAZING" experience. We were one of the "LUCKY" couples to win the passes to meet and greet Toby Keith (Thanks to The Carolina Rider.) He is more than just a country superstar, he is the voice for All Veterans past, present and future. He was very "down to earth," so to speak. As we waited anxiously in line, he took his time with each person, treating them as if they were the superstar. I was very impressed by this.

I admit, I was trying to think of a hundred things I wanted to say to him, but when it became mine and Preston's turn, I drew a blank. The only thing that I could say to him was "Please put my boyfriend (Preston) in a head lock so needless to say HE DID as you can see in the picture!

After our picture, Toby asked Preston, "Hey man, you ride all the way all the way here?" Preston replied, "Yes, we came from Blue Ridge Harley Davidson." Toby said, "good deal" and proceeded to ask if I rode on the back. Honestly, I can't even tell you what my reply was. But I can tell you that Toby was wearing Harley Boots!!!!

Thank you again for this experience. WE will never forget it.

Sincerly, Preston and K.C.

Our Sponsors, Peake and Fowler Law Firm, is helping to make this event possible and we'd like everyone who can to get behind it as well.

We understand that DB Bryant is playing!

Join them this Saturday! ....

A Reader is Looking for "Vintage" SC HOG ...

Can anyone help this woman's search?

Building a great bike is like designing the perfect woman which is undoubtedly a task to say the least. When you put together a staff like The Bike Exchange has, coming up with perfect balance, flow, and "wow" factor comes naturally. Designs come from an awry selection of ideas that end up in a one of a kind format that is a treat for the eyes and looks absolutely jaw-dropping cruising down the highway or barreling past you on a back road (when you're in the car with the old lady and kids wishing you were riding!)

These Harleys are our life, our passion at The Bike Exchange. Typically a build will take about three to four weeks depending on the level of intricacy and parts availability. Not only is the look important but the quality of the ride is certainly on our minds when building; which is why we never cut corners nor tell a customer to compromise. We will always find a suitable way to make a dream bike a reality.

This month's build is a 2011 Street Glide (everyone's favorite.)

The bike was built for Chris & Victoria out of Lonview TX.

Congrats guys!

We went with a paneled style paint job, tru-dual Vance & Hines exhaust and Roland Sands wheels. We blacked-out ALL the cases and covers as well as the front end and got a little creative with the derby cover.

Chris hit our Facebook page up today after His beautiful machine was delivered. As you can imagine, he's pretty pumped!

Thank you for reading Big Mike Buildz Bikes. If you have any questions or comments ... or if you are looking for a new bike, please give us a call @ 704-824-8533 or check out . We also can turn your stock bike into the machine of your dreams - the limitations are endless.

Until next month ... RIDE SAFE BROTHERS,

Big Mike

So - ditto to FancyFree! Just as she brought to your attention, today you will notice a little change as we have started publishing our e-Magazine on Tuesday instead of Monday. We're doing this of course to make our publications even better for you because it gives us the crazy first day of the week to gather our information and hear from YOU ... so that what we turn out is more complete. We do hope you too enjoy this small little change.

Welcoming 2 New Sponsors to

The Carolina Rider!

And, as FancyFree also said, we are welcoming today The Bike Exchange to our team of Sponsors. But what she didn't tell you yet is that we have still another Gastonia, NC business whose advertisements you'll soon be seeing in and The Carolina Rider Scene ... McKinney-Salinas Honda. Welcome to these two new Sponsors who help make it possible for us to bring you YOUR motorcycle publications by The Carolina Rider! Check out their ads and give them your business when possible and you'll be keeping The Carolina Rider at the ready for when you need us...

Do you have any ideas or suggestions as to how to help The Carolina Rider grow? Drop us a line! We are here for you.
