Great things in store for 2012!

As the year moves toward closing its doors, I'm excited to see some wonderful creative projects wandering in to introduce themselves and give us something to look forward to in 2012! New writers, new spokesmodels, new ideas, new opportunities.....

I've recently heard from a nice handful of people who want to share their story with readers of The Carolina Rider. If you are one of them, thanks for your willingness to use your creative skills and the inspiration you gather from your ride. And if you haven't said so yet but you'd like to try your hand at being part of our writing team, even if in a small or one-time fashion, give me a shout. You know how you like to read about others' rides and adventures? Even if it's simply a photo display with captions or a few sentences about a riding experience, it's something you enjoy, right?

This week we welcome Bill "Blastoff" Starnes to our writership. Blastoff came to us asking to share about legislative issues he gets wind of through his work with the NC CBA. Blastoff is on the NC board and active in Gaston County. We're most grateful to have him aboard and for this week's writing below. Looking forward to more from Blastoff!

And....I pointed out last week that Stealth has a new online feature for us.... Stealth's Test Rides. In his first installment, Stealth takes the Harley-Davidson Nightster and The 48 for a spin. See what he has to say about these innovative flavors of Harley's Sportster. We're thrilled to begin this new feature and encourage you to look for more in the New Year under REVIEWS.

A number of people have sent me beautiful and inspiring PHOTOS to go in our future "What a Wonderful World" slideshow. Makes me want to go on another ride...then another...then another!!! GOT PHOTOS? I know you do! Photos of beautiful scenes on your rides (the mountains, the coasts, nature, people, all sorts of beauty and fun,) photos of the ride (the road ahead from the passenger seat..,) photos that go well with the song lyrics. Send in your BEST ride photos. We're going to compile a slideshow accompanied by the Louis Armstrong song "What a Wonderful World." Get your photo in The Carolina Rider slideshow! It will be on our website permanently and featured in The Carolina Rider Scene for several weeks.

Remember, here's what we're looking for....

  • beautiful, touching, inspiring, moving, playful, happy, joy-filled scenes
  • shots must have a motorcycle or part of a motorcycle (or more than one motorcycle) in the shot (a photo that shows a rearview mirror for instance counts as a part of the bike)
  • show us YOUR PERSPECTIVE - what you see and love to see on your rides! - express yourself!
  • the more creative and original you are, the better your chance of getting in the slideshow

... an eclectic little section dedicated to eclectic items sent in by our eclectic readers!

Coming up ...

I hope to see you at one of the Toy Runs this weekend! The weather seems predicted to be just right....not too hot, not too cold, sun, no precip. Just right for a holiday toy run.

Looking forward to seeing smiling faces, teddy bears, and lots of red and green among all the black leather!

Back to back toy runs on both ends of the Queen City this weekend ... as well as in most corners of our Carolinas ....

...and The Carolina Rider is looking forward to a very busy and productive Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we will be at the Ranlo Church of God for the 16th annual Toy Run. This is a MUST. If you haven't been on this one, they go to different churches and give the toys to the kids, ON THE SPOT. Talk about your immediate gratification. Nothing could warm the heart more than to see the faces of young kids being given the toys. Click here for a map of where the Toy Run starts.

Then on Sunday, the Toys for Tots, sponsored by the Charlotte CBA will be collecting toys for their Toy Run that will end up at Suck Bang Blow Smokehouse. (So they're calling it SBB these days but you know it by its original name I'm sure.) This run is a staple of Charlotte and always be well worth your time!

The Carolina Rider bus will be at both locations servring hot chocolate and doughnuts and cookies. Be sure to come out and see us at both locations!

We want to Come to Your Neck of the Woods!

And, you know, The Carolina Rider is here for all of you in other parts of NC and SC too so please don't forget that. We'd love to be at ALL toy runs and events throughout The Carolinas ... and that WILL come! We've established a good foundation over the past couple seasons focused primarily around The Greater Charlotte Area but we're fueled up now and ready for these publications to ride out stronger in your neck of the woods too! If you are in a part of The Carolinas where we haven't been able to be present in person, how about give us a hand? Send us your stories, photos, and such....advertise with us ... or, for those of you so inclined, sell advertising for us or become part of our management in your part of the states! ....

Looking for Regional Managers for The Carolina Rider

The Carolina Rider is also looking to expand all around The Carolinas....the coast, the mountains, and all points in between, above and below! We are currently looking for someone to manage the local publications, so if you know anyone who might be interested or qualified please have them get in touch with us!
