CAROLINA HARLEY-DAVIDSON SIGNED CONTRACT TODAY TO RETIRE DEALER NUMBER AND CLOSE

GASTONIA, NC, August 16, 2010- Carolina Harley-Davidson owner, Diane Baldwin and The Motor Company have entered a mutual agreement Tuesday to retire the

dealership effective October 15th, 2010.  Diane told her management staff privately this

past Saturday of her intentions to retire and had a statement released to her employees

later that day.  Many of the staff members were present during Diane’s tragic loss of her

late husband, Click Baldwin and compared this announcement to another death; however

members of her staff remain supportive and told her, “We are with you until the end”

despite their uncertainty of their future.  Her staff comforted her and made the

announcement easier than anticipated.
Click and Diane Baldwin began Carolina Harley-Davidson, Inc. twenty-two years

ago in a modest building with five employees in downtown Gastonia and have grown

into the current seventy thousand square foot building at 2830 East Franklin Boulevard with thirty-three employees currently with staffing as high as seventy-five.

After the loss of her husband, many speculated that she would close the store or sell to another investor but the decision to continue operating solely was made. After two years and eighteen days Diane’s and daughter, Chelsea’s emotional journey without their beloved husband and father, have brought the two to the realization this legacy is ready for retirement.   Simply stated, without Click, there is no Carolina Harley-Davidson. Diane’s retirement plans at this time willfocus on selling the building and

sorting Click’s toys…“that in itself will be a full-time job” Diane stated.
Diane plans to address her customers and the community next weekend at their

8TH Annul Bikes, Boogie & BBQ and now final event.  With the retirement agreement

now determined between the two companies, the anticipated crowd and celebration is

expected to be great.  Diane and dealer number 3479 areready to let the retirement

celebrations begin.
Carolina Harley-Davidson in Gastonia has ranked in the top 25 highest ranking

dealerships over the years and been recognized in the Top 100 dealers in the power motor sports industry in North America.  With over 600 Harley-Davidson dealerships world-wide, the dealership will always be known as “Unlike Any Other!”

This is a loss indeed. I met Click in passing but did not know him personally. I do however know of his reputation. RIP.

I met Click in the early days when Greg Lindaman or Angel as we used to call him were running mates way back in the days of Stan's chopper house on south blvd,Yellow Rose Tavern and all that was the 70's. Click was a great guy then and never changed. Greg died in houston in the early 90's, flipped a ragtop vette and left us. So many have left. Iam sorry for your loss, a loss for all of us. Respectfully, Lurch

Someone has got to keep it open, won't be any reason to go to Gastonia without the Harley shop!!! Be great to see someone like the Petty's take it over.

WOW, 22 YEARS. WHAT AN IMPACT ALL OF YOU HAVE HAD ON SO MANY PEOPLE, IN SUCH A FAMILY ORIENTED WAY. EACH TIME I CAME IN TO LOOK AND DREAM OF "ONE DAY" HAVING MY OWN HARLEY, IT WAS ALWAYS FUN, AND EVERYONE WAS ALWAYS SO FRIENDLY, AND WEARING SMILES. THE LOSS OF CLICK WAS GREAT, AND I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW YOU FEEL. PLEASE KNOW THAT MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU THRU THE EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE OF CLOSING HARLEY DAVIDSON IN THE GAS HOUSE. BUT I DO UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY, AND I WISH YOU GUYS A POSITIVE AND HAPPY JOURNEY. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE FOND MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE CARE, J.

I am so very sorry to hear that news. Click has been and is still missed, but I, like most folks I know, did not expect the dealership to close. Mrs. Baldwin and Chelsea, we wish you all the very best. May all God's richest blessings be with you.

Really hate to see this happen. Best of luck in the future. This is the only dealership that I trusted. We really liked everyone that works there the employees are very very nice. Everyone there worked with us in every way when we bought our bikes. Best dealer around. Lots of luck and like I said Hate to see you go. Best wishes Tim & Beth Boheler
